Heart of Tamworth Community Project (HoT) is a local charity supporting people across the Tamworth area. We deliver a wide range of services and support from our community facilities at the Sacred Heart Centre in Glascote and St John’s Church in the town centre
We operate a community café and community pantry, run youth groups and a popular summer scheme programme. We support people who have been bereaved and those with dementia (and the people who care for them). We run social groups, walking groups, craft groups…you name it.
In addition, we host numerous organisations who use our community facilities to deliver activities, services and support. Have a look in the Services and Support section to see what’s currently available.
Our facilities are available for hire by groups on a one-off or regular basis, as well as individuals looking to host an event such as a party. More information can be found in the Our Facilities section.
Background
In 2012, parishioners from St John’s and Sacred Heart came together to see how they could support the Tamworth community, particularly those for whom the consequences of poverty, deprivation and isolation make life challenging. This led to HoT being created. In 2014 the organisation became a registered charity and it has continued to grow and develop ever since.
During the Covid pandemic lockdowns, HoT was involved in supporting local people with distribution of food and other supplies from its Sacred Heart base. We also ran a telephone befriending service to keep in touch with people who were isolated. And, whilst all of that was going on, thanks to a significant grant from the National Lottery and a large investment by the parish, building work took place to re-develop our community centre and build our HoT Community Café which opened in May 2021.
We continue to develop services and support to meet the needs of the community. If you want to find out more or suggest ways in which we can help local people, please get in touch. All of our contact details are in the Contact Us section.
